New Do, birthday parties and exams...

I recently got a new hair cut... it was time for a change. The hair cut I had before was cute, but as soon as my hair got past a certain length, it started to resemble a "gramma globular"... WAAAYYYY before my time!!!! So, I had my friend, Sara, cut my hair in a more edgy style. It is ledgen- wait for it...... Dairy! I have a mohawk! Its more fashion than 80's punk, but its a mohawk none the less. She also helped my color and added a few highlights only through the longer mohawk part. I love it!

Last Friday was my friend, Mehrnoush's birthday. I hosted a small party at my place. I made a beef stew (it was amazing, if I do say so myself), Sarah Elizabeth made homemade rolls and the cake and Jackie and Malin brought the veggies and dip. It was nice. Mehrnoush got to pick the movie since it was her party and she picked Pride and Prejudice. She had read the book, but had never seen the movie. It was nice to just have a quiet night in with friends.

Exams for term 2 were yesterday and today. The practical went fairly well... My model was my friend, Erin. She did great. I had to follow detailed instructions on what sorts of wounds I was to make and the type of underlying beauty makeup I was supposed to do. I had to follow the story given... which was, basically, that she had been in a bad car accident. I had to do a gash on her forehead, split lip, bruises on her left cheek bone, distressed makeup to make it look like she had been crying and crawling through mud, and a 3rd degree burn on her right hand. We were given two and a half hours to complete the makeup, I finished about a half hour early.
After the exam I helped remove the makeup and then we went to lunch at White Spot, and then we went and did a little shopping at the Pacific Centre mall. Retail therapy works wonders ;)
Today was the written exam. I felt more prepared for this exam than I did for the written one last term. I think because it wasn't as much history and stuff like who got an Oscar for what and specific makeup artist's names, I felt more confident. Especially after the exam when I could ask my classmates what answers they wrote, and my answers matched theirs for the most part. Either we're all gonna fail, or we all are awesome... guess we'll find out in a week or so.

I am SO looking forward for this time off! I really have nothing planned, except sleeping in ;)
I am a little wary about next term. We start off right away working with hair and wigs. My least favorite part of the whole makeup experience. Meh... at least it'll be over with in a couple weeks. OH! And, this term we have to write a research paper on a makeup artist. I'm not sure if we get to pick who we write about or not. The only piece of comfort is that at least I'll be researching a topic I actually like.... ha!

Well, that's it for now... TTFN: ta ta for now ;)
